Demographics – a look into the crystal ball with Excel

“Dark storm clouds are already on the horizon, but many still hope that they will simply pass by.” This was the comment on demographic development at the HAUFE Amazing People Conference.

It is foreseeable that the baby boomers of the 1960s will retire by 2030 and that the subsequent Generation Z will not be able to fill the resulting gap. Take a look at the video for yourself! (data source: de.statista.com, 2020)

Nevertheless, many companies are acting as if there will continue to be an inexhaustible supply of skilled employees and managers in the future. It is important to set the course now so that staff shortages do not become a serious business risk:

  • through talent management measures that enable strategically important positions to be filled internally
  • by promoting employee retention, above all through greater participation in decision-making, so that employees feel a sense of ownership of their work
  • through employer branding that makes the company well-known and interesting.

The need to act is obvious – yet many companies lack the HR capacity to tackle these challenges immediately. This is where temporary HR support makes a real difference.

Whether it’s talent management, employer branding or recruiting: I support companies hands-on, exactly where support is needed most – pragmatic, structured and focused on results. Project-based, part-time, on-site or remote.

If you don’t want to watch the skills shortage unfold but actively shape your future workforce, let’s start a conversation. Sometimes one exchange is all it takes to gain clarity on the next steps.
